The Seventh Wave, Hayle Beach, Cornwall, UK

Limited Edition Photograph

Arriving in Cornwall mid-afternoon, we took our first walk along the beach at Hayle that evening. As the light faded, the sea turned gold and we watched a lone surfer walking into the sea. In fact we spent so long watching and photographing the sunset that we lost our route back through the dunes and had a longer than anticipated walk to find our car! Later a surfer told us it was a great shot as we had caught the seventh wave. Seeing our puzzled looks he told us that surfers consider a seventh wave to be a good one. Of course we assured him we'd known that all along, and had spent HOURS waiting for that wave!!
